I recently picked up Fallout: New Vegas and did something I don't normally do. I made a character based completely on myself. I found it interesting, and began wondering what'd it'd be like to apply the same principle to Elder Scrolls. So, my question is who would you be? I'd be a Breton explorer. I'd make a living delving into ancient Dwemeri ruins, discovering their hidden secrets and ancient technology and learning what I could from them and selling whatever I needed to. I'd have some training in magic, mostly utility spells and stuff that'd help me avoid trouble rather than kill things, though some lightning magic to help combat any still functioning automatons found in the ruins. I'd also have some training with a blade, but only enough to really defend myself, not enough to start slaying dragons and trolls. I'd have to rely on my wits and creative use of magic to get me out of trouble more often than my blade and armor.

Honestly, I'd be much like Harmony is in my story; a Breton studying at the College, maybe teaching there at some point once I'm qualified. Urag gro-Shub probably has my Elder Scrolls dream job, I'd love to care for all those old books. In fact that if Winterhold didn't pan out for whatever reason I'd also consider the Bard's College in Solitude.

I'm not really familiar enough with the races to say which I'd be, but I know which role I'd play. Honestly? I'd be a quest giver. Specifically, I'd be studying the natural flora and fauna of the land, and I'd give out a ton of escort quests for adventurers to guard me around while I conduct some field studies. You know, stuff like "Hail, adventurer, do you know of a good spot to observe [certain creature]? If you could lead me to it and ensure my safety on these dangerous roads, I could compensate you." Also a bunch of quests to find me certain plants and what not. Most of my income would come from an alchemy side business using everything I've gathered, as well as some humble returns from publishing journals detailing what I've learned about creatures and plants. My quests would probably be very annoying, also. For the scavenging ones, I would require a detailed list about where things were found and what sort of habitat they were in. And I'd be talking the adventurer's ear off during escort missions, going on and on about how to identify different animals and plants and their alchemic properties, as well as my crazy theories about how things are related.

Hey, maybe I don't want to admit to being a crazy cat lady! = P Come to think of it though, I guess it sounds a little bit like I'd make a fitting Wood Elf?

Yeah, with your interests you'd make an excellent Bosmer!
On a related note, I think I'd be more suited as an Altmer. Definitely not a Thalmor, though. In fact perhaps my political rebellion is what got me to Helgen.

Honestly? If I existed in a world where werewolves existed, I would have long sought out that and become exactly that. My race would likely be Imperial, and I would likely have some training in martial combat. But really, I'd just be a werwolf. A werewolf cat-lover. Huh.
